Memorial Work

Below you can see a small selection of some memorial jobs we have completed recently.

In the first two photos you can see a headstone we cleaned, restored and added an additional inscription onto before re-fixing back into a local cemetery. When we first removed the memorial we could see that there were letters missing from the inscription and over time it had become marked and dirty from the natural elements.
So we tightened the original inscription and hand cut letters to create the new wording. We chemically cleaned the memorial, transforming it back to its original beauty.

In the second two pictures is a headstone we were asked to add an addition inscription onto. On this memorial we sandblasted the new inscription to match the existing. This lettering was gilded using gold leaf to produce this classic and stylish finish.
Removal and Repaint Job - Step by Step

Our customer approached us as they wished us to do some renovation work on their loved ones memorial.

Sadly over time the memorial had sunk into the ground, and was leaning over and become unsafe. Unfortunately the paint had failed had in some of the letters, making the inscription hard to read.

Below you can see the process in step by step photos of how we brought the memorial back to new and made it safe to BRAMM standards.

New Forest District Council - Beaulieu Cemetery

As a member of BRAMM (British Register of Accredited Memorial Masons) and a registered fixer for New Forest District Council, I was invited to tender, and was selected from many candidates, for a project in making selected older memorials safe in Beaulieu Cemetery so that the public could enjoy this wonderful old cemetery in safety.

All of the selected memorials had to be made safe, but still retain their original character and look, to stay in keeping with their beautiful surroundings.

As you can see from the pictures below many of the memorials had become almost unrecognizable over time; some had subsided and were tilting dangerously, some had cracked foundations that needed to be replaced, and some had broken parts lying on the ground.

All work was carried out to Blue Book Code of Practice (BS8415).
Below you can see a catalogue of before and after photos of the memorials that I that had been identified as unsafe. I took great pride and pleasure in bringing these back to a safe condition while preserving the lichens and patination that they had acquired over time, thus retaining their mellow, aged beauty.

Princes Arcade - St James, London.

The Princes Arcade is a grade II listed art deco Victorian arcade that was originally built in the 1930's, it was given a complete revamp and relaunched in 2018.

Here you can see a picture of one of the entrances to the arcade before it went through its relaunch.

I was asked to provide bronze inlaid lettering for all of the new thresholds to the arcade.

You can see below a gallery of the process from the start, to the finished design in situ.
